WORST GAME 2014 CONTROLS MAKE THE GAME NON-PLAYABLE!!!!!!
The only draw back to this game is the dumbing down of the searching and exploration by using icons to show you everything you can interact with. Other than that, every choice they made for the controls is an improvement on the original. Zoom and panning the camera, inventory HUD, auto selecting the interaction mode based on what you need to do, and perhaps best of all, you no longer loose life just by running in to something. Great game from the early 90s with an excellent port to the iPad!
I loved playing this game as a kid. I just bought it for iPhone 5s and pray that it is just as good as the original. I hope theyre working on the sequel as well. After playing it a little bit the controls are tricky at first but not all that bad. I have noticed though that I cant zoom in on the holo map. I dont know if this is a glitch or if it was like that originally. Either way with the small screen it makes it impossible to use the map to see where you are going.
What a lovely surprise. I loved the original game especially the second part. I have fond memories of it. Just wow!
This game is even clunkier than the original. I loved it as a kid, but back then even it was frustrating to have to start all over every time you get caught. Much more enjoyable were the Quest games by Sierra (I wish someone would port those!) Biggest complaint is that on my iPad the tap controls are off. So when Im trying to run past a guard the character runs into an object and gets stuck because his trajectory is not in line with where Im tapping. Then I get killed and have to start all over, which blows majorly. I lasted about 30 minutes before I threw my hands up and ate the 4 bucks. Oh well.
Thanks very much for this release :) Worth ten times the price for the music alone. My favorite game ever made. Thanks again.
I remember this game fondly when I was young and it’s great to finally have this game on the iPad. One thing I didn’t like about the original PC game was the controls. It was clunky, left and right arrows to turn the body and up arrow to move forward. The game on the iPad at first felt even clunkier, but after realizing I could just hold the screen and drag my finger around and Twinsen will follow it, it made the game a whole lot easier to control. Problem is I think most people will just end up tapping the screen where to go and that just makes it very frustrating. After you realize you can just tap and hold, the game controls really smoothly. And it’s all there. Everything that made the game a classic. Still of course you get the outdated graphics, but seeing as this is an emulated game, it’s understandable. Even though I’m fine with the controls, an option for a virtual stick MFi controls would do this game justice for different ways to play. Excellent classic and a definite must have for mobile gamers
This was one of my favorite games back in the day. Really glad the port to mobile devices turned out so well. Hope they do the other Twinsen game eventually as well!
So excited to have found this game. I loved the original, so awesome to have it on ipad. Controls could be a little better, but its still great.
I havent played it yet but just having the game is worth the $4. Cant wait to play and hear the music! It will take me back in time!
YOU GUYSSSSS IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE GAME EVER SINCE I LOST IT WHEN I WAS LITTLE, AND THIS MADE MY LIFE I LOVE YOU GUYS BLESS YALL #childhood #memories
Though, the ability to play in english with the french dub would be nice
I loved this game when it first came out. If you want to play a port of the original, this is great. If you expect a remaster with new artwork and rethinking how to take best advantage of the platform, it isnt so great. The artwork and cinematics look painfully bad - jaggy text. Lots of reviews dont like the controls. I get how they work but I cant play it the way I want. Frustrating to not be able to swipe around and view, jumping is awkward and activates when you interact too close to your character. So for LBA2 please give us a high-fidelity version. The game is so well suited to a tablet platform and audience. (Imagine this game updated to an Oceanhorn standard. Classic reborn)
Best day ever. Ever
Don’t believe some negative reviews you might have read, this is a great and very thoughtful port of the classic game! The original game used keyboard for movement, and in iOS version developers had to do something different. To move Twinsen you need to tap and hold on the screen in the direction you want him to move. This is somewhat confusing in the beginning, but once you grasp the concept, it plays very nicely. Then, to aid potential platforming problems, developers have added visual clues (what is actionable and what is not) and visual guides for jumping and throwing magic balls - things that were not present in the original game, but make the overall experience much more pleasurable on a touch device. The game is not really playable on iPhone, it’s iPad where it shines, and I’m halfway through it, and must say, it’s still enjoyable. The characters are adorable, the world is full of little secrets and jokes. Voiceover lacks audio quality, but still very nicely done. I’m just hoping the second game will also be eventually ported to iOS.
I loved the original and despite a few bugs this is awesome!
Loved this as a kid.
If I could give it a 10 star I would!!! Frederic Raynal at his best!
Pure frustration. The controls are sooooo lame, they will make you want to tare the skin off your face.
